If your pet must be evicted and taken to an animal shelter or other safe place:

  • Identify your pet with a microchip, tattoos, tags, collar, etc.
  • Prepare a waterproof kit containing photos, documents, and vaccination records, among others.
  • Keep your pet's vaccinations up to date.
  • Have a portable cage or transport box.
  • Prepare a box or suitcase with enough food for several days, medications, water bottles, wet wipes, garbage bags, soap, flea and tick preventatives, dishes and favorite toys.
  • Identify a place where your pet can be cared for in case you are evicted from your home. Make a list of friends or relatives who can take care of your pets for long periods of time if you should lose your home.
  • Plan ahead and stay calm.

Remember, your pet is part of your family. Love and Protect them.
